Dune race. Deep sand was a serious problem - especially for the vehicles with narrow and hard tires.

Dry tree trunks served as road marks.

...some participants tried to hit them but not the cool-blooded finnish guys.

Webmaster's Lada NIVA completed the dune race with difficulties but successfully.

Osvald Putninsh from Latvia, the winner of the dune race, leads his Lada NIVA to the finish line.

Beach race is the next stage. Many beautiful but dangerous water splashes. Electric systems need serious water protection to overcome the pools at full speed.

Some parts of the route were under Ladoga water. For Eugenia Tverdohlebova it was not an obstacle.

Hot engine plus water - Putninsh has got moist windscreen.

May be it was the reason he won the second and not the first place.

Forest roads and river crossings so loved by the 4wheelers drivers.

River crossing is the place where copilot can demonstrate his abilities. High clearance is the most important thing (for copilot).

Women team: Svetlana Zaitseva and Marina Korolevich (copilot) on a specially prepared Range-Rover have won the "Best Team" award.

"UAZ of America" (UAZ with 4.3l V6 GM engine) driven by Anatoly Victorov very agressively forces his way through mud...

...and in the same way practically destroys ancient wooden bridge.

The UAZ is being evacuated from the remains of the bridge.

This is not a river crossing. It is simply "a road down the lake bottom" (so says our race legend for the day).
